There is a floodlight contained in the now reused microwave oven as an alternative of the microwave tube that was there as we haven't any intentions of frying the visitors. The floodlight is used as a ballast to stop the transformer burning out due the shorting of the zapper by bugs. As the floodlight is related to in sequence with the primary of the transformer, it lights up as quickly as a bug "closes" the circuit.
