I've a wall fixture in my Brooklyn apartment's bathroom that is my solely source of gentle. A sticker on the fixture says that it is Max 75W. The opposite day, the 14W / 60W equivalent CFL that was in it since I moved in burned out and i needed to replace it. Since it is my solely supply of light in the room and it is 2015, I bought a 13W / 75W equal LED bulb to go in it, the very best I could discover at the native hardware store. The strangest thing is, after i screwed in the new bulb, the sunshine refused to work. When i screwed in a bigger CFL, say a 20W / 75W equal, it additionally refused to work. Solely when i screwed in another 14W / 60W equivalent CFL did it lastly work. All model new bulbs that work in other sockets around the residence. Does anyone know what might be behind this? Should I get an electrician in to test this out, or are some gentle fixtures simply not compatible with LEDs?
